W.A.C Should China Build More Hydro Electric Dams?

 China has many citizens depending on them to make the right decision. So Chinas thinking,  Should we build more Hydro Electric Dam's? And in my opinion I think China should build more Hydro Electric Dam's. Hydro Electric Dams could prevent flooding in China. It could save lives and etc. And I have 3 reasons to help support my evidence.

My first reason is that it saves lots of damage money. Because if there is a special monument in the area and it gets destroyed it could cost thousands and maybe millions to repair. And for people that have houses, if their house get destroyed or affected the home owners would have to pay a lot to repair. And what if those people barely earn money at their work? And instead of risking these things to happen they can build a dam which is a better way to use their money rather than using it on damage caused by the flood.

My second reason is because it can prevent flooding and it can make electricity to help benefit China. This could save lives and save houses. This electricity that the dam causes could help China succeed in other projects they are working on or talking about doing in the future. And the article says "The dam generates more than 700,000 megawatts of clean electricity. And 700,000 megawatts is a a lot! And if there is flooding it could cause down power line making China lose some of their electricity.

My third reason is that if China builds Hydro Electric Dam's it could save lives of China citizens. Because we all know for a fact that floods are very dangerous. And this quote "The 3 gorges dam has brought many benefits to china and its people". So rather than risking the lives of innocent citizens and children why not install some Hydro Electric Dam's to keep these people save from harm. And if some people do get hurt and they don't have enough money to afford surgery, stitches, etc what are they going to do just lie their dying? Save these people and install Hydro Electric Dam's.

In conclusion I think that yes China should build more Hydro Electric Dam's. And these dams have many benefits. Some benefits such as giving clean electricity to people. Keeping citizens out of harms way. It can save not only China's government money but also home owners money. This is why I believe people in China should build Hydro Electric Dam's.

                   Summary

 I learned that the different type of features a river has is a source, tributary, floodplain, meander, levee, a mouth, and a delta. A tributary is a stream or river joins a much larger river. A mouth is when the main river joins a lake or ocean. And a source is where the main river starts.
          What Practice Shows My Growth
One practice that shows my growth as a scientist is the Simple Model River. Because it helped my understand the different features of a river. Thats how I know all the features. Or at least the basic features. It also made me learn that a Confluence is the point at when a tributary joins the main river.

Summary

A Delta is a D shaped area of sediment built up into water thats open that flows into a river or ocean. And this sediment is muddy or sandy. A source is a start of the river and a mouth of a river is a point in which a river reaches a sea or lake. A loop or bend in a river is called a Meander. The San Joaquin River has a Delta, in fact its a Bay Delta. The San Joaquin river is the main source of water for about 25 million people from far away for example from Los Angeles and San Diego.

SP2: Developing and using models

 I annotated picture of lakes with all the river features I could find. In one I found 1 V-shaped valley , 2 meanders, 1 mouth and 1 source. And another one had a 1 Alluvial Fan, 1 Ox bow lake, 1 source, and 1 mouth. I found out that a source is a start of a river and that a mouth is the point in which the river flows out into a sea or lake. And I also figured out that a Meander is a curve or loop in a river. A tributary is a small river that joins a main river next to it.

Summary
Newtok is located in Alaska the case is that every year the Ninglick river was eroding away pieces of Newtok every year which was making a big hazard for the people living on it.

Newtok is full of hazards because it has most erosion rates from 36-83 and high permafrost ratings.The averaging of the shoreline caused the main erosion problems. About 68 feet of erosion was calculated near the shore. The high shores on eroding the landscape near the shoreline.

Backward-Looking:

I didn't know much about the topic because my last year we were in sixth grade and we didn't study this then. But we did do a little bit of study before the project. I did know that erosion is the process of little pieces of the earth being blown away. And we had to do a IGNITE presentation and I knew how to make on because I knew we had to have 12 slides which are each 15 seconds and that theres only pictures on the slides.If there are any words there can't be more than a sentence.

Inward-Looking:
What did/do you find frustrating about it? 

I found frustrating that Arjun wouldn't listen to what everyone said he would only say their own opinion and do it with out listening to what the others want on the slide. And another thing that was frustrating was the timing for our slides we wrote to little on our script. I also found frustrating that some of my group didn't pay much attention and put like a entire paragraph in the slide when I said that I heard the teacher say we could only have one sentence.And then we started arguing until the teacher announced there couldn't be any more than one sentence, again. And my partnership was decent I could deal with it.But constantly I would argue with Arjun because he would criticize literally everything I try to do for the project.

Outward-Looking: Our project was similar to everybody's because we had to make a IGNITE presentation for each group. And this was a "have to" because we were also learning to get the IGNITE presentation technique down we all had to make one.The only reason our project was different was we were all assigned different places and different erosion cases. And every one had to do research on what type of erosion was involved with their case I had permafrost. So basically everyones slide was the same amount of time as mine.

Forward-Looking:
A goal I would set is to take more time out of doing video games at my house and start doing more of my projects and work i didn't do. And I also need to get a planner to set out what to do first than leaving something to the last minute. And I also want to set a goal to take notes in class even if i am not asked to so I can prevent a Zero. And since we have "once a zero always a zero" I can't fix it. And these are my goals to keep me on track without any zeros.

Charity Fair Project Blog

Summary

We had a charity fair in which we had to make a product and them find a charity that we thought was important to donate money to.And we get the money by making the product and then selling it at a mini fair at my school.And then we would have to make a Carbon Footprint,Cost & Profit,and a Persuasive speech and put that in our presentation.And I made with my group homemade candy bags with Lollipops,Gummies,Mints,Chocolate covered Pretzel sticks and Rice Krispies.

Have you done a similar kind of work in the past (earlier in the year or in a previous grade; in school or out of school)?

Yes I have done done this similar kind of work its actually the same one but with a different product. I've done it in 5th grade and I made hand made knit bags with holiday cards,and a egg roll in them.But we never had to do a carbon foot print. This year they added it and they also added that the whole school can only donate to one charity. Which means we would have to sort of compete to make our charity the one to get all the money.

What was especially satisfying to you about either the process or the finished product?

What was satisfying was to see our whole product come together all the yummy candy in a bag none we raw or uneatable and they we well made. What was also satisfying was that we actually worked as a team to do our work we never had a fight on who does what. What we actually did was make a To- Do list for each of us.

Outward-Looking: 

If someone else were looking at the piece, what might they learn about who you are?

They would learn that I am creative and artistic. They would know this because I put a little christmas light decoration on the top border of our board. And I also made the gummies holiday themed. So the one thing they learned about me in this board is that I am artistic.

Forward-Looking: 

One thing I would like to improve upon is ...

One thing I would like to improve on is that I want the stuff we do in our group to be in a orderly fashion and not rushed or last minute. Because in this project everything besides the food was almost last minute and it was sort of rushed. And when things are rushed they don't come out that good but I think we did a satisfying project. And this caused us to leave the rice krispies second food DIY without captions. So this is one thing I would like to improve on for my next project. So for the next project hopefully nothing will be last minute.

What I did this week is that I had to find a good combination for a hole in the park.The park had rain which eroded away lots of dirt leaving a hole in the park. So we had to find combinations of different types of soil combinations to try to get the one to cover the hole and stay there. We also did our charity fair     Carbon Footprint which is basically finding where all our stuff that we use comes from like China,Europe,Germany etc.

S&P 1 Asking Questions And Defining Problems
  We were asked to find where our products came from and we had to find the manufacture and the country it was located.  And we just had to look up the name of the  Item name + country + manufacture. And on top of that we would have to find the place where the manufacture is located and how long it takes to come here in kilometers. And I have to define that problem because my group would have trouble with it.

Soil is the one of the most important resource's. Obviously soil is under us so we have no idea how important it is to us and the ecosystem.Almost all of our food rely's on soil to grow.In class I read that there are 7 different types of soils and they are the Tundra Soils Northern Forest Soils,Prairie Soils,Mountain Soils,Southern Forest Soils, Desert Soils,and Tropical Soils.

SP4: Analyzing And Interpreting Data

I used a spreadsheet to collect data about soil. My group and I analyzing are in the process of analyzing what a "critter" does to help the soil and what it eats. We have used a spreadsheet that our teacher gave us.This spreadsheet lets us put in so things we found to answer some questions about soil. And we learned most of the "critters" are microscopic after analyzing our data.
